Heat up your winter with these 5 BDC classes

The beanies and heavier coats have started to make an appearance on the NYC streets, which means…winter is coming.

Sure, sometimes staying at home snuggling up to a movie or a good book sounds appealing in the cold, but this winter, keep sweating with these 5 class and workshop ideas available at Broadway Dance Center!

Winter Intensive BDC

#1. Dance4Camera Workshop

Emmy nominee and director Brian Thomas presents the Dance4Camera Workshop, which covers dancing for music video, commercial and film. Class will be filmed, and you will receive an edited music video, which can be used for your website, reel, submissions and other promotional materials. The Dance4Camera Workshop is for advanced beginner dancers, ages 16+, and will be held on Sunday, December 2, from 6-8pm. Tracie Stanfield will be leading a contemporary routine this time around, so dancers are encouraged to wear black shorts, a black tank top/camisole and bare feet. For more information and to register, head to www.broadwaydancecenter.com/workshop/dance4camera-workshop.

#2. Advanced Theater with Chet Walker

If you want to perform in theater, then you’ve got to take class from Chet Walker. His resume is insane, and the insight he has to offer is invaluable. The multi-award-winning director/choreographer has performed on Broadway since the age of 16, and is most known for his performances in the musicals of Bob Fosse. He has choreographed for the stage, television, film, music video and commercial media. He received the Outer Critics Circle, Fred and Adele Astaire and Drama Desk Award, for choreography in the revival of Pippin. With all of that being said, you’ll definitely get a lot out of Walker’s two-hour Advanced Theater class, held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-6pm, from November 15 through January 3. Castro studied at the Ailey School and has performed as a Knicks City Dancer in front of thousands of people, and has been on tour with Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas and more. She has also appeared on film and television, including Step Up 3D, The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and the MTV Music Awards. Her classes are fun and inspiring, especially because she encourages you to be yourself and just dance. Her Heels class will be held on Tuesday afternoons, 1:30-3pm, from December 4-January 29.
